Future of robotic anaesthesia.

چکیده
Editor—I enjoyed reading the study by Hemmerling and colleagues. A robotic technique would fill a gadget loving, coffee drinking anaesthetist with enthusiasm, but I would like to understand the fundamental point of what are we trying to achieve by using this technique of tracheal intubation. I wonder whether the development of this technique is driven by increasing patient safety, or reducing airway complications, challenging the time from induction of anaesthesia to start of surgery, and decreasing morbidity and mortality. I believe that this line of research does not carry much importance without a clinically important hypothesis. I do appreciate the effort involved in this project; it is an interesting academic article, and that is where it stands, without any hypothesized clinical use in the future.

First robotic tracheal intubations in humans using the Kepler intubation system.
BACKGROUND Intubation is one of the most important anaesthetic skills. We developed a robotic intubation system (Kepler intubation system, KIS) for oral tracheal intubation. METHODS In this pilot study, 12 patients were enrolled after approval of the local Ethics board and written informed consent. The KIS consists of four main components: a ThrustMaster T.Flight Hotas X joystick (Guillemot I...
متن کاملThe Future of Healthcare Facilities: How Technology and Medical Advances May Shape Hospitals of the Future
In this review article, we aim to depict how healthcare facilities may look in the near future from an architectural design point of view. For this purpose, we review newly introduced technology and medical advances in the field of healthcare, such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotic surgery, 3D printing, and information technology (IT), and suggest how those advances may affect the archit...

The term "INDUSTRY 4.0" or "fourth industrial revolution" was first introduced at the fair in 2011 in Hannover. It comes from the high-tech strategy of the German Federal Government that promotes automation-computerization to complete smart automation, meaning the introduction of a method of self-automation, self-configuration, self-diagnosing and fixing the problem, knowledge and intelligent d...
متن کاملControl of a Robotic Wheel-Chair Prototype for People with Walking Disabilities
In this paper we present a system that could be used to help people with walking disabilities. A system consists of a prototype mobile robot platform equipped with a control board and a remote computer system, running with image processing algorithms, was used to develop a system for physically disabled human to move freely in an environment. We used a camera to get visual information by a huma...
متن کاملAre Autonomous Mobile Robots Able to Take Over Construction? A Review
Although construction has been known as a highly complex application field for autonomous robotic systems, recent advances in this field offer great hope for using robotic capabilities to develop automated construction. Today, space research agencies seek to build infrastructures without human intervention, and construction companies look to robots with the potential to improve construction qua...
